Though the vintage cigar factories were gone by the 1950s, Ybor has seen a tremendous revival of its shopping and restaurant scene in recent years. It’s a great place to experience some of Tampa’s old world flair, while taking in some wonderful sights and sounds at local area music venues.
Channelside – located not too far from the Ybor City area - also provides a wide array of activities for Florida visitors. These include catamaran cruises, IMAX movies, games arcades, night clubs, shops and dining establishments along the waterfront, where you can still see the Port of Tampa at work.
For the culturally minded visitor, The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center – located in downtown Tampa – hosts a wide range of nationally acclaimed shows and events. There’s also the Children’s Museum of Tampa, which provides a hands-on fun learning center for kids.
Lastly, Tampa is home to a number of Universities and colleges including the University 0f Tampa, the University of South Florida, and Hillsborough Community College.
