Welcome to the Florida Mortgage Blogger’s very first hosting of the Carnival of Real Estate!
I’m excited to provide a showcase for some great Real Estate bloggers, some of whom I know, others whom I hope to meet. All in all, it’s a great collection this time ’round, and I’m very happy to present you with this week’s assortment of Big Top Real Estate Bloggers!
The Real Estate Market Tent
Dan Green presents Using Photomosaics To Show How All Real Estate Is Local posted at The Mortgage Reports, saying, “All real estate is local. Here are the pictures to prove it.”
Dan gets one of our special Big Top Real Estate Blogger awards for this one for a couple of reasons. One, he reinforces the idea that national real estate stats mean Diddly Squat! Ya gotta get local to get local… ya know? Two, I love the idea of using digital images to tell a story – any story. It’s the tech geek in me, I suppose.
From Dan’s post: “For a home buyer, getting that “whole picture” is about as helpful as having Al Roker report that the national temperature to be 77 degrees.” Awesome… just and so true! Nice one, Dan!
Ben Roberts presents The 10 Most Important Real Estate Numbers to Know Before Selling Your Home posted at Exit Real Estate 540, saying, “Some useful numbers to know in real estate. Good for homeowners, buyers, and agents.”
Ben gets another of our special Big Top Real Estate Blogger awards for this informative top 10 list. It’s well put together, and gives useful insight into topics including, but not limited to: Average Sales Price, Average Days on Market, Absorption Rate (a particularly cool stat that I myself follow in my area, too), and so on. Good stuff, Ben!
Amy Bohutinsky presents Today’s Home Buyers: Who You Are, What You Want, Why You Buy posted at Zillow Blog, saying, “Hope this is not too late. It’s a post about buyer’s attitudes in real estate.”
Yet another special Big Top Real Estate Blogger award recipient, Amy has pulled together some really nifty stats that I, being the stat nerd that I am, will keep an eye on as they compile in what I hope will be future iterations of this post. Seriously, if you’re into Real Estate Stats from a National Trend standpoint, give this one a read.
(Nota Bene: I still agree with Dan Green that national real estate stats are useful only to a point. Ya gotta go local for the “where do I put my money” answers.)
Bob Schwartz presents Real Estate Tax Deduction – Soon to be History? | San Diego Real Estate Market Blog posted at San Diego Real Estate. Bob earns one of our special Big Top Real Estate Blogger award because he brings up a proposition so scary, it’s bound to give the most hideous carnival side show entry a run for its money. No deduction for my mortgage interest? Bite your tongue, Bob! Or – at least swallow a burning sword!
The Real Estate Professionals Tent
Peter Toner presents ActiveRain & Trulia suck posted at Web Real Estate Marketing, saying, “How the aggregators are sucking the life out of Realtors!” Pete offers this up:
“So let me ask you a question: If you knew the whole story and if you knew how easy it was to set up your own online presence would you actually pay them to contribute your time and market expertise?
Pete speaks my language here, and I love that! So yep… he gets another of our Big Top Real Estate Blogger awards. If you’re a busy real estate or mortgage professional and use Active Rain or another other blogging platform THAT YOU DO NOT OWN – then read this post.
As you click over to Pete’s blog, ask yourself this question: You probably don’t pay another person’s mortgage, so why are you building someone else’s online presence?
Jim Cronin presents 50 Sound Real Estate Blogging Tips posted at Real Estate Tomato, saying, “Fingers crossed – hope to make the good list!” Well, Jim – you get your wish! A Big Top Real Estate Blogger award goes to you for this awesome list for Real Estate Blogging professionals! Actually, you and Peter (above) could get a pretty nice high wire act going – as this post tumbles right from the one he’s offered up!
Folks – Jim knows his stuff. These 50 real estate blogging tips will not only get you set up for talking real estate in general, they’ll help you tackle YOUR actual market and go “hyper local” to boot! Definitely one that’s worth the price of admission to the Big Top!
Honorable Mentions
Lisa Collins presents a June Market Update for the Toronto Real Estate Market posted at Toronto Real Estate Blog. Lisa joins this week’s carnival based on our need to keep this blog’s many Toronto, Canada readers up to speed on what’s going on in their neck of the woods. The Real Estate Sales Carnival is likely making its way up there now as some of our fellow Carnies from the north are for sure contemplating selling their homes and making their Wintering here in “Winter Haven” a permanent gig.
Danilo Bogdnaovic presents Can Low Commission Hurt Your Chances of Selling Your Home? posted at Loudoun Scene, saying, “This is an ongoing topic of discussion for sellers and listing agents/brokers and it’s obviously still very popular.” Indeed! It’s always… I mean ALWAYS about the cost of admission! Considering buying a ticket to the real estate sales show? Be sure to read Danilo’s post – which is really a lengthy answer to a question he tackled on Trulia.
By the way, answering questions on the Trulia network seems to be a very popular way of sharing your expertise and building business interests. If you’ve done much of this with any level of success, drop a line here and let us know!
Charles Richey presents Early Buyers Cry Foul at CityCenter posted at Las Vegas Condos – Las Vegas Condominiums, saying, “Early buyers at CityCenter are demanding price reductions due to the current market conditions. It may be a moot point if they are unable to get financing.”
That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of carnival of real estate using our carnival submission form.
Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.

I feel like a screaming teenager! My first concert ever was ELP. Thanks for the memories, Kevin.
.-= Teri Lussier´s last blog ..Looking for Open Houses in Dayton Ohio? Easy. =-.
Thanks for the special mention! Man, there were some really great articles this week. I especially loved “Activerain and Trulia suck.” Well played sir.
.-= Ben Roberts | EXIT Real Estate 540´s last blog ..The 10 Most Important Real Estate Numbers to Know Before Selling Your Home =-.
Teri – happy to oblige! ELP did some great stuff, and as with many, Karn Evil 9 remains one of their songs that always comes to the top of my mind when I think of them. I’m actually amazed at how many folks mistakenly think that Carl Palmer is actually Robert Palmer – of Power Station fame.
Keep rockin’ Teri!
Ben, my pleasure. You have a great blog! Keep it up – and “fight the power!”
Saw the tweet “Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends. We’re so glad you could attend. Come inside! Come inside!” and I knew i had to come check it out!
Better than the video – these are some great posts!
(ok, I also love the the song and ELP!)
.-= Mike Mueller´s last blog ..What is an REBarCamp? =-.
Mike – LOL! You know? I sensed that you of all people would key in on that twitter title! Glad you stopped by.
Kevin,
We’re thrilled to have made it! Thanks for the kind words, but thanks even more for putting together this creative Carnival. Some great reading to do this morning.
Hey Jim – thank you. CoRE is a fun thing to host! Hope to do another sometime in the future. Your article and the others posted were really great.
Now those were concerts! Concerts of today are nothing compared to concerts from the old days. Nowadays it’s too much glitter and glamour and not enough good music!
.-= Tom@Priligy´s last blog ..Dapoxetine in the US =-.
