Would You Buy a Home for $15,000?

I’m sitting here watching President Obama talk to the nation as part of his Presidential News Conference, and he referenced the housing situation.

I immediately thought about the proposed tax credit approved by the Senate earlier this week that would grant homebuyers here in Winter Haven and across the nation a tax credit of up to 10 percent of the purchase price of any home, capping out at $15,000.

I think this tax credit might encourage homebuyers to get off the fence and sign contracts in moderately priced areas. As such, folks looking for Lakeland real estate or homes here in Winter Haven would have something to sink their teeth into.

However, I wonder if a $15,000 tax credit will do much to spur home sales in higher priced areas. Those looking for Clearwater real estate or Orlando property may not be as motivated to act.
